Pure clear light washing through the heart
Clinoptilolite takes its name from the Greek klino (“oblique”), ptilon (“feather”) and lithos (“stone”) — the “oblique feather stone,” for its inclined, feathery crystal habit. It is one of the many members of the zeolite family, the “boiling stones” that froth and release their water when heated.
Clinoptilolite is a high-silica zeolite of the heulandite group, a monoclinic aluminosilicate whose open framework is honeycombed with channels filled by loosely held water and exchangeable ions of sodium, potassium and calcium. It is colourless, white or pale green, soft (about 3.5–4), and forms tabular crystals and fine-grained masses.
It is the most abundant of all natural zeolites, forming where volcanic ash and glass alter slowly in water. Because its cage-like structure can take ions in and let others out, it is widely used to filter water and air and to soak up pollutants — a stone that literally cleans.
Clinoptilolite occurs worldwide in altered volcanic ash beds and sedimentary tuffs, often in vast, workable deposits. It comes in sodium-, potassium- and calcium-rich varieties, depending on which ions its channels have gathered.
Its remarkable capacity to exchange ions has made it one of the most useful of minerals — used in water purification, air cleaning, agriculture and even in capturing radioactive caesium and strontium after nuclear accidents.
Its cage-like channels trap and exchange ions — a natural filter used to purify water, air and soil.
Colourless to white or pale green, water-filled and light — among the clearest and gentlest of all minerals.
The most abundant natural zeolite, born of altered volcanic ash, kin to chabazite, scolecite and the whole zeolite family.
"Silence is the highest form of prayer. In the stillness of the mind, the voice of the Infinite is heard."— Trailanga Swami
Clinoptilolite belongs to the zeolite family, which carries the purest and clearest energy of all crystals. This is pure white light: it fills the central channel, the sushumna along the spine, and gently softens and dissolves the blockages held there. It is not the strongest of stones but the lightest and clearest — and like its own crystal, whose open channels filter and cleanse whatever passes through, it works by clearing rather than by force.
Its named seat is the heart — the centre of all the chakras, the bridge between the upper and lower centres, and the great healing place of the emotions. Here its clear light works on the heart's old griefs and held emotions, the very knot that most blocks a person's path, washing them through with a soft, transparent ease. Its frequency and power are balanced and mild, so the clearing it brings is gentle and unforced.
"The mind is nothing other than the 'I'-thought."— Ramana Maharshi
As a stone of Love, Life and Joy, what it clears it fills with brightness: the heart left not merely emptied but warmed, enlivened and gladdened. And as an Expanding stone it lets that clear, loving light widen outward through the whole being — pure, light medicine for the heart and the channel, for anyone who wishes to feel clean, open and quietly joyful.
